Hey, Its Kristin. I just thought I’d give an update, and share a video with you. First, here’s a video that I found on YouTube. Its a woman talking about how they compost an entire BBQ festival’s organic waste (Thats 4,000-5,000 lbs of food waste!). I found it pretty interesting:
So, the update:
We’re in the process of filming several episodes. It’s a big learning curve for us, but we’re starting to get the hang of it. If only we had a real camera! We’re using a laptop as our video camera, so there’s no zooming, and its awkward to hold. Its great for blog style videos though, which is what its meant for. The episodes are various projects. We’re talking about the befefits of line drying clothes, how to pickle peppers, making a compost turner, and more! Log onto our youtube channel and subscribe!
So you CAN compost meat waste. I never knew. What are the logistics of that?
ooooh, nice question Mindy! It has to maintain 130 degrees F for several days to kill all the pathogens. Generally you have to do it in a larger pile so that it gets to the right temperature.
